Monday, a coworking company with spaces in several cities asked us to explain our organizational model and why we chose coworking as a work- and meeting place.
HR post-COVID-19
After COVID-19, many companies, even tech-savvy and modern ones, forced their employees to return to the office. At Medialog, however, the organizational model was not reactive to a pandemic. We were born nomadic in 2016 and do everything we can to be even more so.
No one in our company must come to one of our work centers, not even to sign the contract. Even today, we hire through the screen if the occasion requires it. Remote working is not a problem, but a competitive advantage for us.
Fear of remote
We don’t know if Spotify bought the billboard shown in the picture in this post—they cost a fortune—but we do know how they think about human resources. They put it this way: You can’t spend a lot of time hiring grown-ups and then treat them like children[1]. According to Spotify, an office has to be an experiential place. Employees should want to go to the office for this reason. We couldn’t agree more.
We love coworking spaces, Monday especially, but also all the others we’ve been lucky enough to visit. We’ve been to quite a few in Spain and many other countries. Please take a look at our former nomad spaces.
What is our mission?
From our point of view, an agency like ours is not in the business of managing office space. We leave that task to those who make a living doing just that. Let’s be honest and admit the truth: as a manager, how many hours of your workday do you spend on tasks unrelated to client service?
In nine years, we haven’t spent a single minute on issues related to workplace running. When we start the day, we use a card to access the building 24/7, whether or not anyone is at reception. The place is tidy and secure, the kitchen is always clean, the bathrooms are spotless, there is coffee and water, and we can go to the gym and shower if necessary. Monday organizes events, and you can sign up if you’re interested! End of the day, we close our laptops and go home.
Successes and failures in remote team building
Monday has asked us to share our experience. So, on June 5, we will share our successes and failures in creating a team without offices of our own. Our tax advisor and auditor are surprised yearly that we don’t have a chair or desk.
